Hong Kong International airport has released the provisional traffic numbers for August 2019, and they show a steep decline in numbers at the airport.
The number of aircraft taking off and landing at Hong Kong in August 2019 was 35.655, down 3.5% compared to last year.
The amount of passengers was 5.968.000, doen 12.5% compared to August last year.
The amount of freight processed was 373.000 tonnes, down 11.9% compared to August last year.
This is quite a significant drop for everything, and I am sure a lot of airlines are hurting because of this. The main reason for the drop is probably the ongoing protests in Hong Kong, and I have a feeling we will see an even bigger drop this month.
