This was a sudden, unplanned trip to go and have dinner with a friend who has retired in Chiang Mai a couple of years ago, and when I found some cheap tickets with Hong Kong Express from Hong Kong to Chiang Mai I decided to make a quick trip over to see my friend. Due to work constraints I was only able to leave Hong Kong at 5pm, arriving in Chiang Mai at 7 pm, and returning the next morning at 10 am, so this will be just a very quick review.

This post has been pending for 6 years for some reason, so I figured it was time to get it moving and out there. I made the booking for the hotel via Agoda.com, and after looking around for a while I settled at the GrandVrio resort for my 48 hours visit. However, I was arriving at 5 am, and checking out at 2:30 am, so I had to book the room for 3 nights to be sure it was available.

Having completed 21 days quarantine stay at 4 Points by Sheraton in Tung Chung a couple of months earlier, I decided to book 4 nights at this hotel to finally get some status with Marriott. I only needed 4 more nights to become a gold member – not the biggest deal in the world, but some status is always better than none 😀

As part of my covid-restriction and reaction I was living in hotels from January 2022 onwards, and one of the hotels I stayed at was the Cordis Hotel in Mong Kok, Hong Kong. Living in a hotel is very different from being a short term guest, and as such I will not make a review, but rather post a few pictures for my own memories only.

With Covid restrictions finally lifted in Hong Kong in October 2022, it was time to go traveling a little bit again (although mostly to see my family), but I did manage a quick trip to Bangkok to meet up with a good friend there as well.

I was at this time a long term resident at the Renaissance Harbour View in Hong Kong, but due to a delegation of VIPs coming to Hong Kong for a visit, the hotel was not available for us plebs during those four days, so I was asked to move to either the Sheraton in TST or the JW Marriott in Admiralty instead. As the Sheraton was under renovation and warned there might be a lot of noise, I choose the JW Marriott for the 4 nights that was needed. The price was a special rate of 1200 HKD plus 10% service charge, so in total 1320 HKD per night.

I read in South China Morning Post yesterday that there are now talks about opening up for quarantine-free traveling between Hong Kong and Macau as soon as this month possibly (although I doubt it), but I thought anyways it was time to finish my last hotel review from Macau from 2020.

I had previously been to Macau a couple of times on day-trips, but decided it was time to get to know the city itself a bit more, and not only the casinos, so decided to book a hotel for 2 nights. I looked around on Agoda.com for a while, and decided to book this hotel in the old part of the city, on the Macau peninsula.

Arriving at the Ambassador Hotel everything there looked just like it did the previous times I had been there. The location is excellent, in Sukhumvit Soi 11, so close to Skytrain station, shopping, restaurants and nightlife.

Review – Radisson Blu, Gardermoen, Norway
Radisson Blu Gardermoen is located just across the street from the arrivals hall at Oslo Gardermoen airport, so after we had returned the rental car to the agency we loaded all our suitcases up and headed to the hotel.
