With Covid restrictions finally lifted in Hong Kong in October 2022, it was time to go traveling a little bit again (although mostly to see my family), but I did manage a quick trip to Bangkok to meet up with a good friend there as well.
- Date of stay: January 30 – February 02, 2023
- Room booked: 1 king bed, Guest Room
- Price: 21.915 THB
- Room given: Luxury Suite, 1 bedroom King.

I had recently become a Platinum Member of Marriott Bonvoy, and as my elite member benefit I choose 5 nightly upgrade awards, and I applied to use 3 of those nights for this reservation. And as you can see from the above message, my request was approved. I understand this is not that common in the US, but it seems to work most of the times on my travels in Asia….
I was given a suite on the 25th floor, and was excited to go and explore it.

The corridor to the room itself was very wide, and felt very luxurious.

As i entered the room, there were wall to ceiling mirrors on the right side of a corridor leading to the living room, and a small powder room on the left.

The powder room had comfortable lighting, a normal toilet and sink.

The living room part was a combined office space and sofa with TV, and great views of the park behind the hotel.

On the desk there was a nice hand+written welcome greeting from the general manager, which I though was a very nice touch, and made it feel very personal (yes I know he probably writes 50 of those every day, but still)

Next to the office are there was a minibar with a standard selection of drinks.

Then there was a small area with a Nespresso coffee machine, kettle and a selection of teas, as some glassware and cups, and a decent selection of alcohol.

There was a large selection of outlets and connections for electronic devices, suitable for any country specific chargers.

The sofa was even more comfortable than it looked, I could spend all day on it.

The sofa faced a TV, whcih had a standard selection of TV channels, which are generally very limited….

The living room (and bedroom) had great views of the Bencahkitt Park, which was just behind the hotel.

The living room then led into the bedroom, which had a large, king sized bed.

Then there were another sofa (which was not nearly as comfortable as the living room one).

Then there was a separate make-up table with its own mirror, with lots of natural light from the window

Of course there was a TV in the bedroom too, with the same basic selection of TC channels as the living room.

From the bedroom there was an open door to a small hall with two more doors, one leading to a walk-in closet and one leading to the master bathroom

The walk-in closet was large, and had some nice bathrobes and plenty of hangers, in addition to the in-room safe and the general accesiroes you’d expect.

The master batgroom was also very spacious, but had (in my opinion) a weird color theme – somehwere between blue and green.

There was also a separate bathtub and shower.

The shower was also large, with a small seat as well for those who perferred that, but no rainshower, just a normal shower head on the wall.

Like most hotels nowdays they did not offer single use shampoo, conditioner or shower gel, but rather refillable bottels, which I guess it more environmentally friendly. I am not a fan thouhg, as I always worry about what the previous guests have put inside the bottles.

Then there were the (now almost standard) pillow menu, that was avaialble on request.

The hotel offered a variety of bars and restaurants, and as a platinum member of Marriott Bonvoy I was invited for evening cocktails and snacks in one of the bars. First time staying in a hotel where there is not a lounge as such, but service in one of the hotel bars instead.

I stopped by the ‘lounge’ at The Living Room one night, and they had a nice list of complimantary drinks, as well as both snacks and some hors d’oeuvres. The hors d’oeuvres were just served on a tray, and you were not able to choose your own, you just got one of each (so no free dinner in other words) 😀

As always, I ordered the sparkling wine for my cocktail, and I believe that it was the standard Sheraton prosecco that was served.

The Living room lounge was open, and tables were quite far away from each other, which gave a high level of privacy, but also kind of prevented you from speaking to other guests – I find that lounges normally are a nice place to make new friends, but not here, so I only spend an hours here the one evening.

I was told that the breakfast buffet at the Orchid Cafe could be quite crowded and busy, so I had my breakfasts both mornings at Rossini’s instead, which was very nice and quiet. They had a combination of a buffet and a la carte ordering, and even sparkling wine and samosas for thse who wanted to start the morning that way 😀

Unfortunately it was a quick stay in Bangkok and I didn’t have time to check out the pool or gym area, but I am sure they were nice – the pool looked like a tropical lounge from my room, but I didn’t take any photos of it.
The last morning I had an early departure to the airport, and therefore I ordered a wake-up call for 05.30 AM. When I requested that, they asked if I’d like a coffee and glass of juice with my wake-up call, which sounded great, so I accepted. The next morning the phone rang exactly at 05.30, and just a few seconds after I answered it, there was a knock on the door and my drinks were served. I did find this to be a very nice touch, and I don’t remember experiencing that anywhere else before.

Overall I had a very pleasant stay at the hotel, and the location was great. It was a bit pricy, in particular when I only spent limited time at the hotel, but that was my own fault and not the hotel.
