Review – Cathay Pacific Airbus A333, business class, Hong Kong to Bangkok, January 2025.

This was part of a 6 days trip I made to Bangkok in January 2025 to visit my parents, who would be flying on to Bangkok the next day. I booked this flight a couple of days in advance, and paid 28.000 Asia Miles for it, plus a small amount (around 500 HKD I believe?) in taxes. I was happy to see that the flight had a 1-2-1 reverse herring bone set-up, which meant lie-flat seats, and not the regional business class that Cathay offers on many flights.

Greater Bay Airlines: From Underdog to Ambitious Contender

Greater Bay Airlines has always felt like one of Hong Kong’s quietest carriers.

They launched operations in July 2022, right in the aftermath of pandemic-era border chaos. Back then, their website was clunky, the route map felt like guesswork, and scheduled flights often disappeared with little warning. At times, it felt like a paper airline—more rumor than reality.

But they’ve stuck with it. And now, three years on, Greater Bay Airlines (GBA) is quietly building something interesting.

✈️ I’ve Launched a Patreon

After writing dozens of blog posts and quietly building my YouTube channel, I’ve decided to open a Patreon page for those who’d like to support my travel content directly.

I focus on reviewing hotels, flights, airport lounges, and eventually other forms of travel like trains and buses — mostly from Asia, and often from lesser-known routes, airlines, and destinations. I keep things relaxed and observational, aiming to give viewers and readers a quiet but clear look at what to expect.

Review – The Pier, Cathay Pacific Business Class Lounge, Hong Kong, January 2025.

The visit to this lounge was part of a 5 night trip I made to Bangkok to visit my parents there. I had booked an award ticket in Business Class with Cathay Pacific for 12.000 miles if I remember correctly, which allowed me lounge access. As my flight was leaving from Gate 40, I choose to use The Pier Business Class lounge, as it is not too far from the gate.

Milestone achieved – 1 million miles flown!

I have, to the best of my ability, been looging all the flights I have done over the years, and just notied now that I have recently passed the 1 million miles milestone! Traveling has always been a passion of mine, and it has taken me to a lot of places, and created a lot of memories and experiences. Unfortunately, I have also lost a lot of memories in hard drive crashes over the years, which is one of the main reason I started this blog – mainly to have a safe place where I can keep my memories!
