Cancelled – a weekends getaway to Taipei, and a midweek break in Bangkok.

As I wrote about earlier, Cathay together with American Express has a promo for twin bookings, which I have taken advantage of, and booked a trip to Taipei, and also a trip to Bangkok. Total price for the two return trips was 3500 HKD, and this will give me 2700 Asia Miles, plus 7000 miles through the promotion.

However, with the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak I had to cancel this trip, as Taipei requires anyone traveling from Hong Kong to Taipet to enter a two weeks self-quaranteen, in which case a 3 days trip would be pointless :/

Good thing is that both Cathay Pacific and Agoda let me cancel my non-refundable bookings without any penalties, so no money was lost, only some time and effort to make the bookings.

The hotel I was going to stay at was the Hotel Eclat, Taipei, which cost HKD 2548 for 2 nights, including free breakfast and minibar.

My planned hotel in Bangkok this time was the Rembrandt Hotel Suites and Towers, which cost HKD 1702 for 3 nights.

All bookings were non-refundable at the time of booking, however, with the current COVID-19 outbreak I was able to cancel both the plane tickets and hotel bookings without any penalties!
