Emirates changes their minds, will now keep a few destinations open

As I wrote about yesterday, Emirates announced that they are suspending all passenger flights effective March 25, 2020.

Emirates is now backtracking on this decision , and will now continue to operate flights to 13 destinations/countries.

The destinations they will continue to operate to are Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Switzerland, Thailand, UK, and USA. I haven’t been able to find out what cities in those countries they will operate to, or how many flights per week to each place, but I doubt it will be more than a few per week.

Emirates has also said ” Having received requests from governments & customers to support repatriation of travellers, Emirates will continue to operate passenger and cargo flights to few countries until further notice, as long as borders remain open, and there is demand. “

In other words this can change quickly, and the remaining routes could shut down with little to no notice, depending on restrictions and demand.
