Traffic numbers at Hong Kong International Airport plummeting in February

The traffic numbers for Hong Kong International Airport has just been released, and the number of passengers and flight movements are plummeting in February.

The terminal at Hong Kong International Airport is mostly empty.

February was the first month of full effect of the COVID19 at Hong Kong airport, and although some airlines were slow in adjusting their schedules, there was a huge drop in both passengers and number of flights to and from the airport.

A total of 1.883.000 people passed through the airport in February 2020, down 68% from February 2019 when 5.879.000 passed through the terminal.

The number of flights taking off or landing at the airport was down to 18.005 in February, a drop of 44.5% from February 2019 when 32.436 flights took off and landed in the same period.

I think the numbers for March will be even worse than those numbers, as more and more restrictions come in force for travelers around the world, and all major airlines have canceled a lot of their flights- it will be very interesting to see how far the numbers are going to drop over the next couple of months.
