Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) saw a significant increase in passenger traffic in February 2022, with 86,000 travelers passing through the airport. This represents a year-over-year (YoY) increase of 80.2% compared to the 48,000 passengers in February 2021.
Cargo handling at HKIA saw a decrease in February 2022, with 101,000 tonnes of cargo being unloaded, a YoY decrease of 7.4%. A total of 172,000 tonnes of cargo were loaded onto planes at the airport in February 2022, a YoY decrease of 14.8%. These decreases resulted in a YoY decrease of 12.2% in the total amount of cargo handled at HKIA in February 2022, with 272,000 tonnes handled.
In terms of flight movements, there was a decrease in passenger flights at HKIA in February 2022, with 2,825 flights, a YoY decrease of 10.9%. There was an increase in cargo flights at the airport in February 2022, with 5,255 flights, a YoY increase of 2.3%. There was also an increase in non-revenue flights at HKIA in February 2022, with 250 flights. In total, there were 8,330 flights at HKIA in February 2022, a YoY decrease of 1.9%.
