The provisional Civil International Air Traffic Statistics at HKIA January 2020 has been released, and as expected it continues to show the downwards trend from earlier months. This downwards trend is mostly due to the Hong Kong Protests, as the effect of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) was not taking place yet.
Total passengers was 5.719.000, down 11.7% compared to January 2019.
Tonnes of cargo was 359.000, down 10.4% compared to January 2019.
Flight movements was 33.210, down 9.1% compared to January 2019.
These numbers show the trend from last year continuing into this year, but with the drastic reduction in flights in and out of Hong Kong in February 2020, I am sure next months numbers are going to be a lot worse than this….
