Review, Cathay Pacific Airbus A359 Hong Kong – Bangkok economy

For once I was travelling with check-in baggage as I actually had a 6 days holiday coming up, and I was planning to stock up on some new clothes in Thailand as shopping there is really great.

I was working nightshift the night before my flight, so I decided to take advantage of Cathays 24-hour in advance check-in, and brought my suitcase with me to the airport before start of the shift. Check-in was done in 2 minutes, and very easy and efficient.

Hong Kong extends code red travel alert, all arrivals from foreign countries to be placed under home quarantine.

It might not come as a surprise to many, and now it has been confirmed. Effective Thursday, March 19th, all travellers arriving in Hong Kong from a foreign country will be placed under home quarantine.

In the last week there has been 50 new cases of COVID19 in Hong Kong, but only 7 of those were locally infected, the rest were imported cases.

The new restrictions will not apply to arrivals from mainland China, Macau or Taiwan.

Health declaration form for arriving in Hong Kong

A few days ago it became mandatory to submit a health declaration form if Hong Kong is your final destination, and for transit passengers who have started their journey in South Korea or mainland China. The form is very simple to fill out online, and can be accessed here.

Notification of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand on COVID-19 control measures

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) would like to inform tourists, international and local, of the measures issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) on “Practical Guidelines for the Air Operators Relating to the Services to be Provided in the Territories outside Thailand Defined as Disease Infected Zones of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Outbreak.”

Update on travel restrictions for Thailand coming from Hong Kong

Thailand has been a safe haven for people living in Hong Kong who wants to get away for a shorter or longer period of time. However, last week there was an announcement that travelers from Hong Kong would have to undergo 2 weeks of self-quarantine upon arrival. This was later withdrawn, reissues and redrawn, before it all got clear as mud.

Introduction – A sudden trip to Pattaya, Thailand

I had leave planned for a couple of days, so I was booked to go and see the kids in the Philippines for 6 days, however, with the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak, Philippines has temporarily banned anyone traveling from Hong Kong to enter the country. As most things in Hong Kong are closed nowdays I needed a new plan for my 6 days off, and booked a last minute trip to Bangkok with Cathay Pacific, and from there transport to Pattaya which several of my firends have recommended. I was there in 2008 and thought it was mostly a dump, but I thought I’d give it a second chance. At least it is close and convenient, and I wanted a quick holiday where I could just relax and do as little as possible.
