Hong Kong to place around 150 buildings in lockdown.

The Hong Kong Government has announced that effective midnight tonight they are putting around 150 buildings in the Yau Tsim Mong district under lockdown.

The affected area, between Jordan Road, Nathan Road, Kansu street and Ferry street. The number on each building indicates number of cases is the last 2 weeks.

Hong Kong extends travel ban to Brazil and Ireland.

Last month Hong Kong Government decided to ban entry of anyone to Hong Kong who had been in the UK or South Africa in the last 21 days, and 2 days ago they announced that they are adding Brazil and Ireland to that list. This is in order to try to prevent any spread of a new, more virulent strain of the coronavirus. The ban remains in force until further notice.

Air Traffic Statistics for Hong Kong, November 2020

The numbers for November 2020 seems to indicate an increase in traffic compared to previous months, although again way down compared to a year ago.

  • Passenger numbers are down from 5.027.000 in 2019 to only 81.000 in 2020. That is up 2.000 from October
  • Tonnes of cargo handled is 436.000, down 13.000 from the year before. Compared to October it is up 32.000
  • Flight movements were 12.565, down 61.4% from 2019 when there were 32.528, but up over 15% from October, from 10.880.

Emirates again banned from Hong Kong for 2 weeks.

Emirates is again banned from bringing passengers to Hong Kong for two weeks from January 9th to 22nd. There are many reasons why airlines gets banned for 2 weeks into Hong Kong, and it is not yet confirmed what the specific reason is this time,

Emirates seems to still be operating their flights from Dubai via Bangkok to Hong Kong in this period as cargo only flights, but at least that means passengers leaving Hong Kong for Dubai will still be able to travel.

Cathay Pacific cancels all flights from UK to HK until January 24

Cathay Pacific already last week canceled their flights from the UK to Hong Kong for 2 weeks due to the new strain of the Coronavirus, and Hong Kong Governments ban on anyone who have been in the UK for more than 2 hours in the last 3 weeks to enter Hong Kong.

Hong Kong Govt extends social distancing

The social distancing measures currently in place will be maintained for another two weeks until January 20, Secretary for Food & Health Prof Sophia Chan said today.

Announcing the Government’s decision at a press briefing yesterday afternoon, Prof Chan noted the measures could not be relaxed given the global COVID-19 pandemic and local situation.

Review – Emirates Boeing 777ER Cebu – Clark business class

After landing in Cebu the passengers bound for Angeles/Clark were allowed to remain onboards, whereas the passengers bound for Cebu disembarked. As soon as they were off the plane, a cleaning crew came on board, and did a (very quick) clean of the empty seats.
