2024 was a year when travel around the world finally was hassle-free again, and a lot of old routes and frequencies were re-installed. Traffic volume at HKIA was also steadily recovering, and there were lot of options for traveling. However, I still wasn’t able to complete a lot of my travel goals, so hopefully I will be better at it this coming year, but probably not.

The lounge in Manila was quite hard to locate, there were no (easily visible) signs pointing in the right direction, but after asking some of the terminal staff for directions I was finally able to locate it, upstairs from the main terminal at the end of a corridor. (It is located in Terminal 3, level 4, just above gate 114).

The trip from my hotel and to Don Muang was quick and took me about 20 minutes. The cost was the same as coming from the airport, around 350 THB. As I had done online check-in I headed straight for immigration, and was through immigration and security check in a few minutes.

Check-in and Immigration was quick and efficient at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, and after security was cleared I headed towards my gate with about 90 minutes spare before boarding was supposed to be starting.

I am a MasterCard LoungeKey member, and I was surprised to see that they had several lounges around Bangkok airport, normally my experience is that they are sharing Priority Pass lounges, but here they were using several different airline lounges.

This was the part of the trip that I was dreading the most – a 11 hour stop-over in Doha. On the way to Norway we were given a free hotel stay for our 8.5 hours stop-over, however, on this trip they did not, as they said we could have traveled with a shorter connection time in Doha. That might be true, but in that case we would have had a 10 hour stop-over with no lounge access in Copenhagen instead, which would have been even worse in my opinion.
