Cathay Pacific has stepped up its Hong Kong–Madrid service to daily flights from 25 October 2026, adding three weekly frequencies on top of the previous four-a-week schedule. The route continues on Airbus A350-900 aircraft (subject to operational confirmation), and Cathay remains the only airline offering nonstop flights between Hong Kong and Spain (Madrid year-round; Barcelona is seasonal — see below).

Madrid first joined the Cathay network in 2016 at four flights a week and has stayed a core European long-haul link through the recovery years. Moving it to daily for Northern winter 2026/27 is the kind of selective frequency growth that sits alongside new routes rather than just restoring what was lost — more choice on dates, and a stronger year-round feel on one of the few Asia–Spain nonstops.
How the daily pattern works
Cathay is using a staggered pair of flight numbers rather than one clock-face departure every day (all times local, subject to change):
HKG → MAD
CX297: 12:40 → 20:30 — Mon / Thu / Sat
CX315: 00:40 → 08:30 — Tue / Wed / Fri / Sun
MAD → HKG
CX298: 22:30 → 18:15+1 — Mon / Thu / Sat
CX372: 11:25 → 06:50+1 — Tue / Wed / Fri / Sun
The Monday/Thursday/Saturday pair adds a late evening departure out of Madrid, which is useful if you are connecting from elsewhere in Europe or want a night sector home.

Cathay also tied the frequency bump to extra Iberia codeshares via Madrid into Latin America (including new markets such as Buenos Aires and Santo Domingo on the codeshare map). For travellers from Hong Kong, the practical takeaway is simpler: one more day of the week you can fly nonstop to MAD on Cathay metal.
Cathay also operates seasonal Hong Kong–Barcelona at four flights a week on A350-900 — this year’s season ran roughly 30 March to 24 October 2026, so it ends the day before Madrid goes daily. Spain stays a two-city Cathay story in summer; for Northern winter 2026/27 the nonstop Spain option from HKG is Madrid daily.
