Boarding was already starting as we arrived at the gate, so we could skip most of the queue and were quickly showed to our seats, again the centre seats together, seats 11 DEF. As I said in the previous post , the middle seat was quite cramped, so convinced the kids to swap with me, so on this flight I got an aisle seat, whereas Marcus would take the middle seat.

After finding our seats we were offered a pre departure drink, but since I would have a rental car upon arrival in Oslo I had to stay on the non-alcoholic, so we all just ordered orange juice.
I must say that I think there is a distinct lack of storage space in the seats, there is no in-seat storage available at all, and the space in the seat-back in front of you is very limited. There are 4 small holes for storing your shoes, but each adult can only fit one shoe in each compartment, so if there are 3 adults sitting together there is not even show storage space.
Also, I find it quite annoying that the TV screens (although very large and good) are not directional, so you end up seeing what everyone else around you are watching too, this can be particularly annoying if you want to sleep but the person next to you is watching a movie, as you’ll get the glare straight in your eyes.
I had downloaded the menu for the flight (above) before leaving Hong Kong, but I was surprised to see that the food served was different from this. Food service started with breakfast shortly after departure, and I opted for the cold cuts and yoghurt.
The kids meal consisted of fresh fruits, yoghurt and cornflakes.
On this flight we were not offered any amenity kits, and there was also no extra padding mattresses available. The seats were still fine in my opinion, so not really needed.
The inflight entertainment system of Emirates is excellent, there is a huge amount of entertainment to watch, and in the business class seats there is both an ipad-like controller and a normal handheld controller that you can use to control the screen. The Ipad sticks out a bit, and I find it annoying and not really needed, but it is nice that you can keep the flight following on that while watching a movie on the main streen.
Next to those to controllers there is a power outlet so you can connect your own electronic appliances. and a seat recline button, so if you have converted the seat into a bed you can make it into a chair again without having to sit up first to get to the controls on the armrest.
After breakfast was completed, I decided I needed a nap again, while Marcus wanted to sit in Alexhandras lap and use his Ipad, while Alexhandra wanted to watch movies 🙂
After a couple of hours of napping it was time for lunch service, and I was excited to try the arabic mezze, as I find the one on Qatar Airways to always be excellent, so I wanted to compare it.
Unfortunately this one was very bland, and I did not really enjoy it – Emirates catering has a lot to learn from their competitor here.
For main course I ordered the Christmas turkey dinner.
The main course was tasty, however, the kids did not want to eat anything, they were still full from their breakfast in the terminal.
For dessert I had the ‘Santas Belt’ cake, which was also different form the original menu.
Then after dessert I was served coffee and chocolates.
After coffee was completed, we started our descent into Oslo, and we could see on the cameras that it was a snow-covered Norway that was waiting for us.
We landed on schedule in Oslo, and being first off the plane we cleared immigration quickly.
Having prepared for arrival in the cold weather, all our winter jackets were on top in the suitcases, so as soon as the baggage was reclaimed we changed into our winter clothing, and set off to find the rental car.
