2019 in Review

Sunset in Phu Quoc

As the last sunset of 2019 has taken place, it is time to summarize the last years adventures.

After my move to Hong Kong in September 2018 and me finishing my On The job Training in January 2019 I have again been attacked by the travel bug, and I did spend a lot of time traveling, but not as much to new places as I had wanted to – with my kids living in the Philippines I spend most of my time off visiting them, but there has also been time for a few trips to other places.

Back in Norway the expression ‘flyskam’ has appeared in the last year, which means ‘flying shame’, meaning people should be ashamed of flying and polluting the environment. As you can imagine, I am not particularly ashamed of the flying I am doing. My stats for 2019 are as follows:

  • Flights Completed: 59
  • Distance flown: 80.762 NM (129.974 km)
  • Time spent flying: 203 hours 30 minutes
  • Most visited country: Philippines (20 times)
  • Most used airport: Hong Kong (42 times)
  • Most used airline: Cebu Pacific (34 flights)
  • Top route: Hong Kong – Clark (16 times)
  • Longest flight: Dubai – Cebu (4591 NM)
  • New countries visited 2 – Qatar and Japan
  • New destinations explored: 3 – Saipan, Phu Quoc and Tokyo.

Compared to all the travels I have done in my life it is not a very impressive list, but I do hope I will have a lot more holidays this coming year, so make my map more impressive – below a map of all the flying I have done so far in my life:

All my travels up to and including 2019

This blog has also not been maintained nearly as much as I wanted to, I have a lot of trip reports to complete, but I have made a few so far, and a lot more will (hopefully) be completed soon…
