Review – Ambassador Hotel, Bangkok

Arriving at the Ambassador Hotel everything there looked just like it did the previous times I had been there. The location is excellent, in Sukhumvit Soi 11, so close to Skytrain station, shopping, restaurants and nightlife.

There was no baggage service on arrival at the hotel, but as I only had a small handcarry bag with me it was not needed, and I headed for the reception. I arrived almost exactly at 2pm, and I was the only one checking in at this time. The check-in process it self was very quick, and I soon had my keycard in my hand, and headed for the tower block for my superior room.

I believe my room was on the 9th floor, with a view towards the west.

The rooms at this tower are fairly spacious, but with the building being round the layout of the rooms are a bit strange, but they have made it work well anyways.

As you enter the room there is a small tiled hallway, with the bathroom to the left and the main room straight ahead.

There was a large king size bed, but the mattress felt a bit old and too hard for my liking.

Opposite the bed there was a curved sofa, a minibar and a office desk with a chair.

The minibar had a small selection of drinks and snacks, and it was reasonably priced.

The bathroom was also a decent size, with the normal toilet, single sink and a shower, and a selection of free amenities.

On the ground floor of the hotel there were several restaurants, coffee shops, tailors and a few other shops, but every time I walked past they were all empty or had one costumer.

They also had a gym and swimming pool, but due to my shoulder problems I did not go and check them out at all.

There is also a bit weird smell in the ground floors of the hotel, not sure where it comes from, but it has always been there when I have visited. However, the hotel itself is very clean, and I cannot complain about anything really… But it is getting older and older, and things do feel a bit worn out, so I think next time I go to Bangkok I will be looking for somewhere else to stay instead.
