So this was the most disappointing part of the trip, when I made the booking the flight showed with Q-suites, but about 2 weeks before departure I got an email saying there has been change of equipment, and looking at the seat map I realized we were to fly in a Boeing 777 with the ‘old’ business class.
- Introduction
- The booking process
- Hong Kong – Clark with Cebu Pacific economy class
- Clark – Doha with Qatar Airways Boeing 787-8 business class
- Stopover in Doha with Oryx Rotana review
- Doha – Stockholm with Qatar Airways Airbus A359 business class
- Stockholm – Oslo with SAS business class
- Holiday in Norway with the kids.
- Torp – Copenhagen with Wideroe economy class
- Copenhagen – Doha with Qatar Airways Boeing 777 ‘old’ business class
- Stopover in Doha
- Doha – Angeles Qatar Airways Boeing 787-8 business class
- Angels – Hong Kong with Cebu Pacific economy class.
So, arriving in Copenhagen we had no boarding pass as explained in the previous post, and we headed straight to the transfer desk to ask for boarding passes there. There were no counters open for Qatar airways, so I went to the Wideroe transfer desk instead and asked for help, and they advised me to just head straight to the gate and they would print the boarding passes there.
This took me by some surprise, as I expected to have to show boarding passes to be allowed through immigration, but I decided to try anyways as the flight was less than one hour away. After falling in line at the immigration counter we were quickly let through, and nobody asked for the boarding passes.
From immigration it was quite a hike to the gate, as the flight left from gate C39 I think, which is at the very end of the pier. Arriving at the gate we went to the counter and quickly got our boarding passes printed, and there seemed to be a lot more people doing the same, so I guess this is a normal procedure for this flight, although I have never experienced this before – at least I learned there was no need to worry about it 😀

- Date: 31 July 2019
- Departure time: 08:20
- Arrival time: 15:25

- Route: Copenhagen – Doha.
Boarding started around 07:55, and business class passengers were first to board. On entering the aircraft we were greeted by the crew, and show to our seats, which were 3 A. B and E. The crew was extremely friendly, and seemed to be very happy to have 2 kids to take care off, and brought the kids a bag of toys each as soon as they were seated, and offered them a welcome drink (where they asked for coke and water).
For myself I asked for a glass of rose champagne, and that was quickly served as well.
Boarding was completed quickly, and it turned out we were only 5 passengers in business class, so we almost had the entire cabin for ourselves. I did of course get the 2-seater for myself, so I had plenty of space for the entire flight.
The cabin crew all swarmed around my kids, and seemed to really enjoy taking care of them, and since we were so few passengers in business class I guess they got some extra attention as well – the crew told me to just relax and enjoy the flight, and they would make sure the kids were well looked after for the entire flight (which they properly did, they constantly came to check on the kids and ask if they needed or wanted anything.)
The menu for the flight was then handed out, and it read as follows:
The wine list was the same as on the previous flights:
We pushed back and departed on time, and after we got airborne we were served another round of drinks, and then meal service soon started.
For the kids I had pre-ordered the kids meal, which consisted of french fries and a chicken meatball kind of thing.
The kids also got a small suitcase with snacks, fresh fruits, juice, chocolate, yoghurt and cookies, which was served about the same time as the meal, so they could choose themselves what to eat.
For myself I ordered the fresh fruits for startes:
I was really hungry, so I had started eating before I remembered to take a picture
Then for main course I ordered the scrambled eggs with grilled chicken sausage
The kids enjoyed eating while watching movies, and the food was very tasty both for them and for me.
The cabin was as I said mostly empty, and the seating configuration is 2+2+2
The seats next to the window does not offer direct aisle access, so you would have to climb over your neighbours feet if they were sleeping.
The 2 seats in the middle, however, offer direct aisle access, so they are probably better if traveling alone (unless you want to watch the view while flying…)
The seats are angled flat seats, which means they recline about 160 degrees, which I think is fine, I anyways like to have my head higher than my feet when I am sleeping, so it does not bother me that it is not completely flat.
The seat controls are very simple and easy to operate.
After I finished my meal I decided to try to put my head down and get some rest, as we were going to have another 30 or so hours of traveling ahead of us, and I would need all the energy I could get, so I seem to have forgotten to take any more pictures on this flight :d
I did manage to get a couple of hours of sleep, and the kids were happy watching movies all the way to Doha, and the emptied out the aircraft of all the potato chips they had brought.
The crew was fantastic on this flight, the service exceptional, and we arrived in Doha on schedule and were at the gate quickly after landing.
I must say that even though this is an old business class product, it is still quite nice, and a lot better than what Emirates has on their 777s (they have a similar kind of seat, but in a 2-3-2 configuration, making the seats more narrow.)
